BIO
I am a postdoctoral research fellow in international law working in the PRIN PNRR 'Rights and Prejudice: Linguistic and Legal Implications of Gendered Discourses in Judicial Spaces' (GenDJus). I am an international human rights lawyer specialised in gender, critical, feminist and queer approaches to human rights. I hold a PhD in international human rights law from the European University Institute, a Master of Laws (Comparative, European and International Laws) from the European University Institute, a Master of Laws (Human Rights, Conflict and Justice) from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and a combined Bachelor and Master of Laws from the University of Trieste (Italy). Before joining the University of Trieste, I was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Departmental Centre for Law and Pluralism, University of Milan-Bicocca. I spent study and research visit periods at the Faculty of Law of the University of Helsinki (Finland).
I was gender and land rights intern at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), supporting the development of the methodology of indicator 5.a.2 of the Sustainable Development Goals on women’s equal control/ownership of land. I was previously legal intern at the European Court of Human Rights (Strasbourg) and research fellow at the University of Trieste (Italy).
RESEARCH
My current research concentrates on the theory and practice of gender and human rights law from the perspective of critical legal feminist, queer and psychoanalytical studies. I am interested in uncovering how legal norms shape the constellations of gendered subjectivities and how legal interpretations may help rethink the scope of protections under gendered human rights. I research and publish also in the areas of international law, critical legal studies, feminist and queer legal studies, comparative (human rights) law and human rights indicators.
