What is the Tandem Learning?

The best way to learn a foreign language is to communicate with a native speaker! The Tandem Learning is a learning method which enables you to get in touch with native speaker students, so that you can improve your language skills. You can do this in complete autonomy, for what concerns where and when.

To enroll you only need to send us an email to cla@units.it with "TANDEM LEARNING" as subject and tell us what language you are interested in, or you can fill in the application form (available here) and send it to the Language Centre.

Benefits of the Tandem Learning:

Working with this method is an excellent way to practise the language of your tandem partner and to improve your writing and speaking skills. You can also discover the culture, the customs, and the traditions of the foreign country; you can make friends with people of different cultures, and practise the spoken language. All this for free.

How does the Tandem Learning work?

The main principle of the Tandem Learning is RECIPROCITY. The two tandem partners have to contribute equally to the linguistic exchange and they both have to benefit from it.

You can communicate by email or face-to-face. You should arrange regular weekly meetings, for instance twice a week, which you should not miss. When you communicate, by emails or face-to-face, an important rule is to dedicate half the time to a language and the rest to the other one.

As soon as the Linguage Centre finds you a tandem partner, you will receive an email with their name and their email address. Now you can get in touch with your tandem partner and arrange your meetings.

You can talk about anything you like, what we suggest is to choose a specific topic, so that the work does not become dispersive. The most frequent topics are: music, sport, travels, books and literature, politics, future ambitions, traditional foods, films, festivities of your country, or other cultural related topics.
